Who are you?
My name is Cetine and I'm a California native. I moved to LA to pursue a career in fashion, but ended working in film/television as a makeup artist, model, and actress. Go figure! I also happen to be transgender and transitioned three years ago.
Who do others perceive you to be?
I think people see me as a creative entity. I've never been very good doing work that didn't require something artistic and driven by my own voice. I've always moved to the beat of my own drum.
What experience thus far in your life, has impacted it most?
I think my transition from male to female was perhaps my biggest challenge in life. Before I transitioned I was very introverted, now I have the courage to speak my mind and work with people who are also very strong individuals, those who I may have not been brave enough to work with before. Understanding yourself brings greatness to your existence.
How do you express yourself? How do you express who you are?
I express myself through my art and my voice because it takes both to start a revolution.
What changes do you think you would see if everyone on the planet truly knew and loved themselves? What do you think stops people from truly knowing and loving themselves?
There are many things that create doubt within ourselves. It may be doubting if we are good enough, pretty enough, smart enough, etc. And weak people feed off these fears and bully others to make themselves feel more powerful. Understanding the importance of being yourself gives us the courage to stand up against those who try to hurt us. If we all could love ourselves, there would be no reason to put others down.
What creative project, experience or endeavor have you been itching for?
There is a short film that I wrote and would love to direct in the near future. It's a film that deals with many kinds of love: friendship, love within ourselves, and the love of the game (video games, that is).
Describe a happy moment in your future.
I make this film that I was referring to earlier and people love it and it gives me the opportunity to create bigger and better projects!
What makes you smile?
I host a nerdy video game podcast with a friend, it's called Bit Different (iTunes and Google Play), and we always have a really fun time talking about games and laughing on a weekly basis.
What satisfies you?
Food and the beach. The beach is my safe place where I can feel totally free and rejuvenated.
If you could wish one thing for the people for the people of this planet, what would it be?
Learn to accept differences rather than fearing them. Differences are what make everyone fun and unique. What's the point of being beige when you can be a rainbow!
